Congratulations California, YOU are now winning as California is tied with Illinois for the number one posiiotn for outbound states!
By the way... that’s sarcasm as this is nothing to be proud of. Some of the many reasons sited for leaving are:
- Cost of living. This shouldn’t really be a surprise. California has one of if not the highest cost of living in the country.
- Cost of Business. Many businesses have closed, shut down or relocated out of state to go to more friendly tax states such as Texas, Nevada, and Florida to name a few. (Some of these companies include Walmart, Dollar Tree, and Macy’s). These states offer less regulation, lower taxes and a lower cost of living for their employees, allowing them an enhanced quality of life.
- Traffic. Let’s face it... Traffic here in Southern California sucks. If you are traveling anywhere between San Diego and the Grapevine, then you have experienced the nightmare we call traffic. While it used to be just during “rush hour” the reality is... there is no good time to be on the freeway in Southern California. There are just better times than others.
- Increased crime. We’ve all seen and heard of the challenges that our major cities are experiencing. San Franciso is the perfect example. The wharf is almost completely vacant as the homeless poplulation has been on the rise for years. Theft, vandilism, and violent attacks have continued to increase as the state has continued to defund the police. Residence has been forced to leave their cars open, windows, down and in some cases their trunks open just to prevent damage.
- Politics is another reason many cited as a reason to leave... In fact, it’s a main cause for many of the items aforementioned on the list.
So... what is the number one reason to stay in California. I’ll give you a hint, it’s NOT Disneyland. It’s the weather. With our beaches, mountains and everything that is beautiful inbetween, many people leave and return to California year after year because of the climate.
